Redesign: Lifestream Blog Inspiration

It’s that time of year again… preparing for another redesign of my personal blog.

This time around I’d like to go the “lifestream” route.  That basically means I want to incorporate more of my social media activity (Twitter, Flickr), but also tie in all of my other web activity – blog posts from my other two websites and my guest publications from around the web.

I’d also like to do more “quick posts”.  Call outs to things I find around the web (like the Gary V video I posted about yesterday), web design inspiration, iPhone photo snaps when I’m out and about, and maybe even some personal video posts (we’ll see about that).

Lots to consider as I prepare for this redesign.  The main things I’m shooting for are simplicity, cleanliness, and serving more (and different types of) content.

Here are a few sites that I’m drawing inspiration from (so far):

Jason Schuller (ca.1975)
Jason Schuller’s personal blog. Nice overall layout. I like the fixed positioned navigation and font treatments.

The SevenFive Theme | The SeveFive WordPress Theme Demo
This is the free Wordpress theme based on Jason Shuller’s lifestream blog. I might look to this for some of the functionality – pulling in twitter, flickr, outside RSS feeds etc. Also really like the clean look and feel.

Adii Rockstar | Creator of Rockstar Awesomeness
Adii’s newly redesigned personal blog. I really liked his previous lifestream design, but this one is quite “Rockstar” as well. I particularly like the category icons and the way he divides up his content.

Antisocial | Designed by WooThemes
A lifestream theme by WooThemes. Another fantastic design by Woo. Like the left side navigation layout, cool color scheme. The main content is busier than what I’m going for, but nice details all around.

I like JS’s personal blog the best. Very clean, which is appealing/important to me.

Me too- I’m a fan of all of Jasons wp theme work. Clean is key.
